Dry Skin
Dry skin has a dry parched appearance and has a tendency to flake easily. It is prone to wrinkles and lines. The sebaceous glands are less active. The skin lacks both oil and moisture. It is fined textured and fragile as it is vulnerable to changes to temperature and humidity.

Dry skin often has problems in cold weather and ages faster than normal or oily skin. Constant protection is very important. It needs a moisturiser during the day and a good cream at night. The only advantage with this skin is that it hardly breaks into acne and pimples.

Oily Skin
This type of skin is caused by the over secretion of sebum making the skin surface oily. Oily skin looks shiny and also has a sort of hardness to it that goes beyond the nice firmness of normal skin - a sort of thickness. Pores are larger and more visible and, due to the excess oil, there's more of a tendency toward pimples, blackheads, whiteheads etc. with the oily complexion.

The excess oil on the surface of the skin attracts dirt and dust from the environment. This type of skin needs to be cleansed thoroughly. One needs to wash and clean this skin more often. It gets large and visible skin pores.

Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin can be easily irritated. Typical reactions are itching, burning, chafing and stinging. This type of skin has a fine texture and is very sensitive to changes in the climate. They show the disadvantage of bleaching, Waxing, threading, perfumes, temperature extremes, soap etc and for men sun, perfumes, shaving cream etc.

Their skin burns more easily in the sun; they have more sensitivity to cosmetics (particularly if perfumed) and may experience rashes or a burning sensation due to overexposure to wind, sun, and extreme shifts in temperature.

Combination Skin
This type of skin is very common. As the name suggests, it is a combination of both oily and dry skin with certain areas of the face oily and the rest dry. The term "T-zone" refers to combination skin types where the forehead, nose and chin are oily but the cheeks and the area around the eyes is either normal or dry. In some cases, the skin could be normal everywhere outside the T Zone and this would still be combination skin type.
